I talked with my dear friend Teddy Roosevelt on his way to dig in Panama. He told me that a molly coddle is a "pampered creature, afraid that the winds of heaven should visit him too roughly." Flubdub is a synonym for bunkum and balderdash. Bunkum is more specifically insincere talk (a.k.a. balderdash) spoken by an elected official just to please the people who elect him.
